You have used all of the four basic operations of addition,
subtraction, multiplication and division to evaluate an expression
containing whole numbers.
To evaluate an expression containing more than one of
these operations, we follow this
order of operations as we work through the expression from left to right:

Note:
After removing any brackets in an expression, work through the expression
from left to right applying whichever operation comes first out of:
- 'of ', 'division' and 'multiplication'
- 'addition' and 'subtraction'
Alternatively, you may do all:
- 'of ', 'division' and 'multiplication' together
- 'addition' and 'subtraction' together
